How do I enable or disable my location on the app?
Context
To respect a user’s privacy, when using the app for the first time, the app will ask the user if they would like to share their location. A dialog window pops up after the user clicks on the ‘Record a test’ button. This asks the user whether they want to allow the app to access their location and gives them options to choose from.
They may have accidentally clicked on an option different from what they originally intended - or they may have changed their mind.
For the best results and experience with the app, we recommend advising users to submit test results with location turned on. With location on, more insights and information is available on the dashboard. For example, with infectious disease tests or in a global pandemic, knowing the precise location of positive results in real-time can aid quicker and more targeted action, prevent outbreaks and manage hotspots.
If users are concerned about privacy, you can reassure them that their personal data is always secure, anonymised and protected. Instructions
Here’s how to guide the user to change their location permission settings.
First, confirm with the user what action they would like to perform.
2. Ask them what device they have - Android or iOS.

3. Ensure the user understands all options available to them and what they mean.
4. Guide the user to their desired outcome following the instructions for their device.
Note that the user may have disabled location services generally. If this is the case, they won’t be able to choose the settings for each app separately. When locations services are disabled, no apps have access to location data.
If they want to allow the app to access their location, they will have to first enable location services from their phone's general settings, and then allow location services on the app.
