When users are entering and creating a new password - either during registration or when updating it - they may sometimes experience difficulty entering a valid password format that is not being accepted.

This could be because they are entering symbols that are invalid on the app.

This article tells you what these invalid symbols are so you can help the user set a valid password that is accepted by the app.

There is in-app guidance (help text) which will appear in red underneath the password field which sets out the minimum password requirements. It contains clear instructions on the minimum length of the password and the combination of characters the password must contain.

Instructions

The password:

  • Must use 10 or more lowercase and uppercase characters and

  • Include at least one number or symbol

However, some symbols are prohibited. If the user enters any of the below symbols, they will be rejected and the password field highlighted in red. The user needs to delete the symbol and if required choose another symbol which is accepted. Here is the list of prohibited symbols:
